PHILANTHROPY

Every year the Beta Pi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta participates in a variety of community service and fundraising events including Relay for Life, Miss Greek, Pike Spike, Zeta Cheer Classic, Lambda Chi Pumpkin Smash, and Safe Halloween among others.  We are proud to be active in our Greek community as well as in a variety of other activities on campus and in the local community.

Our national philanthropy is CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates.  CASA began in 1990 by a Seattle judge concerned with making decisions about abused and neglected children's lives without sufficient information.  He conceived the idea of using trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of these children in court.  This Seattle program was so successful that soon judges across the country began utilizing citizen advocates.  In 1990, the U.S. Congress encouraged the expansion of CASA with passage of the Victims of Child Abuse Act.  Today more than 900 CASA programs are in operation, with 70,000 women and men serving as CASA volunteers.  For more information please go to:

This Fall, our chapter held a very successful new philanthropy event, KAT at Bat! Teams from around campus participated in a softball tournament and cookout to raise money for CASA. Through this fun and exciting tournament MSU Kappa Alpha Theta was able to raise over 4,000 dollars and we hope to continue the event for years to come.
